SSSC Regional Development Project

The objective of the project is to establish an attraction in the region that will breathe new life into the business and tourism sector of Mulgimaa and increase the prominence and appeal of the region both as a domestic destination and on an international level.

Mulgi Experience Centre is a Mulgi landmark and bears the identity of Mulgi people. Through ingenious solutions, it will shape a future inspired by history, connect local businesses and products, and provide visitors with knowledge, entertainment, adventure and fresh ideas.

As part of the project, the exhibition building, infrastructure and outdoor areas of the Mulgi Experience Centre were built and multimedia equipment and materials of the exhibition together with graphics were acquired.As a result, Mulgi Experience Centre serves as both an attraction, a centre for organising events, a preserver of Mulgimaa’s identity, an information and advisory centre for Mulgi culture as well as the leader and developer of the co-operation network of tourism and food businesses in the region.

Duration of project: 1 May 2018 – 30 April 2023

The project budget was 2,137,000 euros, with support from the Regional Competitiveness Strengthening measure in the amount of 1,700,189.82 euros.

SSSC County Development Funding projects

The objective of the project is the reconstruction of the entrance building or manor house of Mulgi Experience Centre.

The outcome of the project is that the entrance building or manor house of Mulgi Experience Centre is reconstructed. The traditional Mulgi manor house serves as a gateway to Mulgimaa and Mulgi experiences, and includes a service hall and tourist information point, a gift shop, two exhibition rooms, toilets, a meeting room and library, staff rooms and office.

Duration of project: 1 March 2020 – 22 May 2022

The project budget was 336,000 euros, with support from the support measure for the implementation of county development strategies in the amount of 188,771.40 euros.

CENTRE OF FOLK CULTURE PROJECTS

The objective of the project was to direct the UT Viljandi Culture Academy to integrate Mulgi cultural heritage into the learning process and guide students to recognise, value, preserve and use Mulgi cultural heritage.

As part of the project, home textiles used in historical Mulgi manor houses were studied and it was learned how to craft new textiles inspired by the historical ones (wool rugs were woven by hand on looms, curtains with archaic patters and covers for ottomans were made).

Duration of project: 1 January 2022 – 30 June 2022

The purchase of materials under the project was supported by Mulgimaa Cultural Heritage Programme in the amount of 1,150 euros.

The objective of the project was to direct the UT Viljandi Culture Academy to integrate Mulgi cultural heritage into the learning process and guide students to preserve and use Mulgi cultural heritage.

As part of the project, knowledge and traditional craft skills were passed on and textile dolls wearing folk costumes from different eras were made.

Duration of project: 1 January 2022 – 31 October 2022

The purchase of materials under the project was supported by Mulgimaa Cultural Heritage Programme in the amount of 718 euros.

ARIB Leader projects

The objective of the project is to purchase and install furnishings in the entrance building, ie the manor house, of the future Experience Centre.

As a result of the project, the reception desk and souvenir counters of the service hall, under-stairs cabinet, armchairs, coffee table, ottomans and hangers were purchased; the vintage cabinet in the exhibition room, sofa, table, ottomans and chair were refurbished; the library shelves, desks and chairs were purchased.

Duration of project: 21 August 2020 – 8 September 2022

The project was supported by the LEADER measure in the amount of 29,998.40 euros.

The objectives of the project are to purchase and install furniture in the exhibition building of the Experience Centre, involve local businesses and schools in the development of the centre and create a co-operation network for the provision of services.

As a result of the project, the service desk of the visitor guide, furniture and lockers of the visitor’s cloakroom, a tool cabinet for the staff room, chairs and tables of the seminar room, a kitchen storage cabinet for catering and tables, covers and cart were purchased.

Duration of project: 21 August 2020 – 18 January 2023

The project was supported by the LEADER measure in the amount of 30,000 euros.

The objectives of the project are to involve cultural organisations, schools and regional stakeholders in the development of the planned exhibition introducing Mulgimaa and Mulgi culture as well as the development of jointly offered services at the Mulgi Experience Centre; collaboratively create engaging audio and video solutions to showcase the Mulgi language and culture along with appealing visitor programmes, experience programmes and educational programmes to introduce Mulgimaa and Mulgi culture.

The project resulted in the creation of 30 audio clips in Mulgi dialect, 4 video clips on food and 5 video clips on folk costume, a 360-degree video clip, a projection on the 3D model of the Sooglemäe farm, the purchase of Mulgi coats of 5 different parishes to carry out visitor programmes, the design of additional flyers for the exhibition and the preparation of visitor programmes.

The objectives of the project are to promote co-operation activities with the network of tourism stakeholders in Mulgimaa, enhance co-operation of the tourism sector of Mulgimaa with R&D organisations in the creative sector, raise the awareness of culture students about Mulgi heritage and involve them in the development and presentation of Mulgi culture, raise the awareness of visitors, tour operators, training providers and media outlets about Mulgimaa, Mulgi culture and the Mulgi Experience Centre.

As a result of the project, co-operation between tourism stakeholders of Mulgimaa will be enhanced, and the marketing and image building campaign of Mulgimaa and the opening event of Mulgi Experience Centre will be carried out in collaboration.
